Overview For English Studies.

 Afiq's :-

This semester almost finish and I have learnt many things from the English Studies subject which is taught by my beloved Mr. Camillus. My first thought is I think literature is not easy but when I learn, I know that literature is fun. Literature tells us about life, death, love, war, sadness, happiness and many other things. It is not a loss if we study and appreciate literature because it will teach us to understand the things that happen.

As for the short stories, The Story of an Hour is about a woman who heard sad news about her husband who died in the railroad disaster. She could not accept it and believed that her husband was still alive. But her sister convinced her that her husband had gone and at the end of the story, the woman’s husband was still alive and she was shocked until death greeted her. Then, A rose for Emily tells us about a life of a rich woman who is lack of love from her father and no one has ever love her until she fancies a man who is named Homer Baron. Emily would kill Homer Baron because of her love to him. The Tell-Tale Heart narrates the story about a mad man who killed an old man without relevant causes. The man killed the old man just because of his eye and this was nonsense. Lamb to the Slaughter depictures a story of a woman who loves her husband very much but her husband has intention to leave her. Suddenly, the woman kills her husband perhaps because of jealousy.

Fawwaz's :-
My syllabus in English Studies subject has finished. Our lecturer, Mr. Camillus teaches us with patience and full of kindness. Our beloved and lovely lecturer helps us to conquer and understand what literature is. Before this, I really don’t understand why people learnt literature and all stuff like that, but after we having learning process together and after met some poems that were very interesting; my heart starts accept the presence of literature in my life. As I am going to be a teacher someday, I think that literature should be teach for all level of students in order to make them understand the meaning of classic language and know types of literary devices.

Our syllabus of English Studies consists of 10 short stories and 10 poems that we had learnt together. Literature plays roles in any part of life. It can describe many types of situation like war, love and sadness. From all of the stories and poems, I can conclude that one of the short stories affects my learning in literature that is, The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe. The storyline of this story is very interesting and sometimes make my heart touched. A murderer and obsession of a guy, that’s all, make my heart fall in love with this story. Lastly, i would like to study literature for next semester and hopefully literature will remain forever.

The Poem . :)

. hop u'all enjoy tis poem. :))

My School was Running .

Easy come easy go,
No more master’s voices heard,
No more white and green attire,
No more advise ringing in my ear,

These all memories,
Now memories are my master,
Master that teaches me,
How to do that,
Do this,
To choose my path of life,
Sometimes, my ear needs a voice,
That can wipe out my fault,
Hope that voice come,
Please, come back TEACHER

Life always walking,
Sometimes it’s running,
No more U-turn,
For my lovely SCHOOLHOOD.

Which Is My Choice? Carry On Or Cancel It?

If I was in that pathetic condition, I would cancel the party in order to respect the death of my neighbour. I would force my family to cancel it eventhough they thought that the death had nothing to do with us. For me, everyone was the same because we were created by the God. There was no reason we could not respect other people. But it seemed unfair to me when a well-known person died, many people would go to his/her funeral. Could it be because of his/her title?

Diary Of A Mother In THE GARDEN PARTY

Dear my beloved diary,

Today is the day my children will handle the garden party. Meg has asked me where to put the marquee. Then, I say to her that she must not ask me where to put it because I will leave all things to her in future and just forget me as her mother and treat me as an honoured guest. Laura tells me about the death in the neighbourhood and Mr. Scott is the person who dies. Laura wants the party to be cancelled but I feel very upset because all the preparations are already done and this can disappoint my other children because they have used a lot of their energy to prepare for the grand event. Also, many people have received the invitation to that party so it will be a bad thing if the party is cancelled.

Ending Of The Jade Bracelet Short Story...

Hye , :D

This is the ending that our group managed to think . Enjoy your read :3

When Ah Kow held the jade bracelet, he felt the the sense of regret because he was irresponsible for many years while his mother lived. While he was gazing at the jade bracelet, his tear fell down to the floor. He already had a plan which the plan was he wanted to sell the jade bracelet but the sense of regret kept attacking him. In the same time, Siew May was very quiet and she always looked at the jade bracelet which she loved too much. The jade bracelet was in her uncle's hand but suddenly, Siew May realized that something that uncomfortable attacked her uncle, something that forced him.

beautiful jade bracelets . :3
Then, Siew May went at her uncle and asked him what had happened. Ah Kow told her that he was very sad because he was never responsible for the family. Without thinking much further, Ah Kow handed over the jade bracelet to Siew May. Siew May could say nothing because she never thought that she would have the jade bracelet and she went to her mother to tell her.

Info maniac . :D

In China, jade is valued for its strength, beauty, ethereal power and was often used in ancient ceremonies because it was believed that jade is essential to daily life. The Chinese believe that jade helps them to communicate with spirits that roam the earth.

Her Grandmother had planned everything with the a guy named Uncle Teng. But, in the end, when they had dinner, the protagonist spilled the curry onto his trouser and made her Grandmother furious. The second theme we thought that appear in this story is abuse towards a young woman . The protagonist (she)  is physically and mentally abused. She was asked to do household chores all the time. She was not allowed to have dinner after she spilled the curry onto Uncle Teng's trousers. We fell very sorry to the protagonist .

Characters .

The grandmother .

  • The grandmother is judgmental.

  • She is very strict. She always wanted the best from her granddaughter, the protagonist. She even forbided her granddaughter to have dinner just because her granddaughter spilled the curry onto Uncle Teng's trouser.

    • She is lady like. She cooks and seems to be a very gentle and soft person.

    • Adored by the Grandmother.

    Lamb To The Slauhghter...

Our English Studies lecturer , Mr Camillus told us to do a scene of the Lamb To The Slaughter short story and we chose the scene where Mary Maloney had a chat with her husband, Patrick Maloney, about something that could make Mary Maloney's heart broke because Patrick said that he would leave Mary.

Mary had a chat with Patrick...
At first, Mary did not want to believe her husband said, but her mind became confuse and more confuse. Then, Mary told her husband that she wanted to make supper for her husband and Patrick did not stop her. As Mary walk, she did not feel anything because her mind was concentrating on what Patrick had said just now. Automatically, Mary's hand took a leg of lamb from the cabinet and she made her way to the upstairs bringing along the thing which she found just now. While she was walking, Patrick told Mary not to do supper for him. With a frustrated feeling and without hesitation, Mary knocked down her husband with the leg of lamb. Pity for her husband, Patrick died after the strong blast...
